We like Jacques because he takes his life in his hands every time he gets onto that Formula 1 racetrack. Despite his lack of success over the last few seasons, Villeneuve continues to be one of the more interesting, fun-loving drivers on the F1 circuit.
why is he famous?
He first gained fame as the son of F1 driver Gilles Villeneuve, but Jacques earned the rest of his fame all on his own. In his teens, he was a driving prodigy and continued to prove it once he turned professional.

Always one to speak his mind, Jacques Villeneuve is an interesting man. His transition from Indy Car Racing to Formula 1 was smoother than most. When his vehicle is on, Jacques Villeneuve can be as good as anyone on an F1 track. His pure driving skills and ability to compete (at times) helps us forget that he has not won anything in a long time.
Not only is Villeneuve used to driving at high speeds, but he also lives life in the fast lane. Leading a luxurious, extravagant life is what Villeneuve is used to. He dates beautiful women, lives in Monaco -- the land of the rich and famous -- and is recognized the world over.

Jacques Joseph Charles Villeneuve was born to parents Gilles Villeneuve and Joann Barthe, on April 9th, 1971, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. Jacques's father Gilles was a great Formula 1 driver for Ferrari. In 1976, Gilles moved the family to Monaco, but in 1982, the senior Villeneuve died in a qualifying accident for a race in Belgium. Jacques was only 11 at the time of his father's death.

Jacques Villeneuve's biggest asset is his courage. Despite the fact that his father was killed in a racing accident, he was adamant in his pursuit of a pro driving career. To be able to control a car that is going as fast as F1 cars do, one must be extremely talented, not to mention fearless.
Villeneuve's eye-hand coordination and reflexes must rank in the top tier among the world's population. Although he isn't as comedic as some drivers on the circuit, Jacques does have a playful, less serious side.

Although he is a small man in stature, Villeneuve has had many beautiful women on his arm, including professional models. He was engaged to Aussie singer Dannii Minogue and stunning ballerina Elly Green.

Although Formula 1 racing is not as popular in the United States, Jacques Villeneuve is very well known in Europe, Australia and of course, Canada. In fact, Villeneuve has been hired to endorse various products in his native province of Quebec, including Honda cars.
In Montreal, Canada, he owns an extremely successful restaurant/bar called "Newtown," (his last name translated from French) where fans flock to in hopes of catching a rare appearance by Villeneuve when he's in town.
His racing accomplishments include the 1994 Rookie of the Year title in Indy Car Racing and winning the Indianapolis 500 the following year. He also made history by becoming the youngest winner of the PPG IndyCar World Championship. In 1997, Jacques Villeneuve won the World Championship with Williams.
While signing with BAR brought him wealth beyond most people's dreams, it has not translated into success for Villeneuve on the track. The BAR cars were subpar and did not let him perform the way he normally would have.

Jacques Villeneuve is not one to care about fashion trends. He usually sports casual clothing, preferring to wear a pair of jeans and a short-sleeve shirt (anything from polo shirts to ordinary tees)
Although it is not out of character for him to sport different hair colors (especially blond), he does prefer to keep his hair short and somewhat messy. Speaking of the "messy look," he also likes to sport a one or two-day old beard, perhaps to hide his relatively youthful face.
