Looking Good In & Outside Of Work

I recently went to a casual cocktail party hosted by a CEO of a Fortune 500 insurance company. In the room, were all the major senior executives of the company. Millionaires by the truck load all around me. Yet, unless you recognized them, you would have never been able to tell how rich they were. Why? They were dressed as though the only store they shopped at was K-Mart. I have nothing against K-Mart (it is a great place to buy laundry detergent and hangers), but a senior executive with a seven-digit bank account, should look the part. That means, good-bye K-Mart hello Hugo Boss.

Most of my friends on Wall Street, Madison Avenue, and in Corporate America, all have one thing in common. They buy expensive, tailored suits for work, yet their casual wear outside of work resemble something out of the Salvation Army. Again, I have nothing against the Salvation Army, but if you have money, use it to buy quality clothes.

You should always have at least a couple of items that you can wear outside the office where people will look at you and remark "Wow, he dresses well" . One of the best compliments to receive is that you are a good dresser.

So what can you do? The solution is simple. For men out there who seem to be lagging in the amount of quality casual wear they have, all you have to do is go out and buy some basic necessities for any occasion.

1-Buy 2 pairs of casual pants (good material, so they doesn't wrinkle and last longer) in black and gray. COST : $150 US

2-One pair of Levi's, preferably dark blue (goes with a lot of colors) COST: $40 US

3-Three nice shirts (of a slightly shiny material to differentiate from your work shirts), one blue, one white, one black. COST: $180 US

4-Two V-Necks, again make sure the material is good quality. Buy one v-neck sweater (for winter), and one of thinner material (for summer). COST: $120 US

That's it, you may spend $490 US, which is a a pretty penny for clothing but take into consideration that you now have enough clothes to create 15 different combinations. You can go out once a week for the next 4 months, never once donning the same apparel. For $490 US, that is a bargain.
